Gluten Free Expo

Our first Gluten-Free Allergy Food Fest in Austin, Texas as a company was a fantastic experience for our whole team. We had an amazing time this past weekend in Columbus Ohio at our second Gluten-Free Allergy Food Fest. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the vendors and attendees and we loved hearing everyone’s stories.

I personally met so many amazing people, who are just trying to provide their family members with safe food that tastes good and is affordable. I met a gentleman, living on social security, who came to the fest hoping to find ways to provide gluten free food for his wife and stay within his budget. There was a mother of four newly diagnosed Celiac children, all under the age of 6, who came with her mother, desperate to find answers. The grandmother cried in my arms when I showed her our app and website with recipes. She was so relieved to that she would be able to cook for her little grandchildren safely. A mom of a teenage girl was ecstatic when I showed her that making a gluten free bread bowl was not only possible, but simple to do. She couldn’t wait to tell her daughter.

We met the family whose daughter was diagnosed Celiac; they have made their house 100 % gluten-free, so their daughter would never have to worry about the food she was eating in their home. Giant Kudos to those parents for supporting their daughter.

My son JJ has a friend who was diagnosed with Celiac just 2 weeks ago. Thomas is in college and when we spoke, he told me that he is trying to do all his cooking on Sunday. We want to try to help with that.

Thomas is not alone; one common theme I heard a lot over the weekend is people are trying to save time, money and the frustration from having to cook every meal.   Renée and I are going to start incorporating recipes that can be used in a variety of dishes. We have been doing this already, but not enough. We have spent the last week really talking about dishes that we can put in the website to help the people we met. We will notate how you can create something else from the main recipe in the notes section of our recipes. Hopefully, this will help people stretch a dollar and save some time.

You could not spend a weekend hearing stories like these and not have it touch your heart. When people are told that they must eat gluten free and then left to their own devices, it causes fear and frustration. Grocery stores can be a terrifying place if you are worried about buying something that will make your loved one sick. The stories I heard, have changed me forever.

We are so grateful to have met everyone and are even more committed to improving our app and website to help make your gluten free journey not only free from worry, but delicious.
