Play ball!

Summer has officially started and major league baseball is in full swing. For many families, a trip to their favorite team’s stadium is a summer ritual.

For us, those trips can become a series of alternate plans. In the past when we were planning on attending a game, we would take a “back up” bag of food to leave in the car and also find a place to eat, somewhere outside the ball park. Sometimes those plans would work out, sometimes we would find something safe to eat in the park, but there were times when all the food in the car was eaten on the way home by very hungry people.

This Father’s Day, we headed down to Chicago to watch our favorite team. We decided that we would live dangerously and figure out where we would eat once we got down to the stadium. Imagine our surprise, when a quick search pulled up a list of gluten free options – inside the ball park! There was no one in that stadium that was happier than us as we sat down and enjoyed loaded hot dogs WITH buns and a few beers.

It felt so normal.

Now, no one has to be left out. Major league ball parks have come a long way in expanding their gluten free options. They all offer something a little different and some even offer peanut free nights for those suffer from peanut allergies.

We also discovered that our stadium also has guidelines in which you can bring in your own food.

Make sure to check your stadium’s website and local gluten free blogs for current information regarding the stadium’s specific offerings and guidelines for bringing in outside food when planning your baseball outing.
