White Chocolate Bark

Right after Thanksgiving, recipes and pictures of holiday desserts and treats are everywhere. Even if you have never made any type of dessert, those images will make you want to try. It is always so much fun to walk into someone’s home with a tray of treats as a surprise. White chocolate bark is one of those pretty holiday treats that is special and is always a hit with a crowd.

And it is so easy. I promise you, even if you have never decorated anything, you can make this holiday white chocolate bark. No one will ever know that you have never made it before.

With a microwave, you can have this white chocolate bark made, decorated and packaged in under an hour. Pack it in wax paper in a beautiful holiday box or wrap up a plate of bark in cellophane and ribbon for your favorite hostess.

If the thought of using a decorating or plastic bag to make the lines makes you nervous, just pick up a couple of decorating icing tubes at the store and use those to make the lines. Don’t use gel, it will melt into the chocolate and your lines won’t turn out.

As cute as can be, this treat will put everyone in the holiday spirit.

Instructions
  1. In a large microwave bowl, microwave the white chocolate chips with the vegetable oil, 30 seconds at a time, stirring well in between each time until chips are completely melted.
  2. Stir until smooth.
  3. Reserve 3/4 - 1 cup of the melted chocolate and pour the rest onto a parchment or wax paper covered baking sheet. Smooth out to cover entire sheet.
  4. Add food coloring to reserved white chocolate, mixing and adding additional drops until the desired color is reached.
  5. Place colored chocolate into a decorating bag or plastic sandwich bag. Snip a small hole in the corner.
  6. Make lines and loops on top of the spread white chocolate. Leave enough colored chocolate in the bag to add "connections" once the chocolate candies are in place.
  7. Place as many chocolate candies as desired on top of the lines. If the chocolate has hardened, melt some additional chocolate to act as "glue." Dip candies into melted chocolate then place where desired.
  8. Once candies are in place, "connect" them to the line with a dab of colored chocolate.
  9. Allow to set in place until dry, then gently break into pieces.
  10. If any candies become loose, simply dip in additional melted white chocolate and secure in place.
