Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Does anything say Valentine’s Day as well as chocolate covered strawberries?
Luscious and romantic, they are perfect with some champagne and your sweetheart for a cozy night at home.

My husband sent me a box of gorgeous chocolate covered strawberries a few years ago for Valentine’s Day. They were so delicious, I thought I would send some to my parents. I almost fell off my chair when I saw how expensive they were.

They are so easy to make that you don’t have to wait for a special occasion. Any day is a good day to enjoy these strawberries.

A lot of grocery stores will carry long stem strawberries around now just for Valentine’s Day. Look for them in your grocery store. Don’t worry if long stemmed strawberries are not available in your area. Just be careful when handling the leaves so you don’t pull them off.

For a beautiful presentation, decorate the top of a cheesecake with these strawberries.

Beautiful, delicious and easy to make, make these for your favorite sweetheart on Valentine’s Day.

Instructions
  1. Clean and gently dry strawberries with a paper towel. It is important to dry the strawberries so that the chocolate sticks well.
  2. In a microwave bowl, place 2 ounces of your desired chocolate. Melt the chocolate 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted. Add 1/4 teaspoon of the oil to the chocolate and stir well to combine. Add chocolate and oil to bowl as needed.
  3. Holding onto the leaves, dip the strawberries, 3/4 of the way into the melted chocolate. Rotate the strawberry so that all sides are covered, gently shaking any excess chocolate back into the bowl.
  4. If sprinkles or sanding sugar are desired, dip chocolate covered strawberry into the sprinkles or sugar before the chocolate sets.
  5. Place strawberry on a piece of wax paper until the chocolate sets.
  6. To apply a different chocolate, allow first layer to set. Melt the second chocolate and add oil, mixing well. With a spoon or fork, drizzle the chocolate over the strawberry. Allow chocolate to set
  7. Refrigerate completed strawberries in an airtight container.
